Surveillance and Undercover Investigations

Surveillance involves watching someone without them knowing that they are being watched. This technique is often used when investigating crimes such as murder, kidnapping, drug trafficking, etc. An undercover investigation is similar to surveillance except that the person being investigated knows that he/she is under observation. Undercover investigators usually wear disguises and carry recording devices.

Both techniques are useful when trying to solve crimes or uncover illegal activity. However, there are times when conducting covert operations may be more appropriate than open surveillance. For example, if the person being investigated is suspected of committing a crime against children, it would be better to avoid public exposure.
